Why can't we be friends, why can't we be friends?

So I was thinking the other day, a thing I occasionally I do and these thoughts crossed my mind...
Does anyone really have any idea how much of an impact they have on other people's lives? Most of my friends know that I care about them, but have I ever really mentioned anything about how they have affected my life in a positive way? I can't think of a time. So this entry might be a little lengthy so move on if you must and I apologize ahead of time if your name doesn't appear. And these appear in no specific order...

Amber: You are constantly an inspiration to me to go further and continue to challenge myself in life. Despite obstacles you always come out on top of bad situations. You are so creative and a person that truly values the little things in life which is an amazing quality.
Adrea: Thanks for always being so supportive and telling me the truth wether or not I wanted to hear it. You helped to keep me in line in Guatemala and always gave me a good laugh. You were such an awesome roommate.
Andy: I know our friendship has had it's ups and downs in the past, but you have truly been an amazing friend to me. I almost don't deserve to have a friend like you. You have so many great qualities about you even though you don't always think it. You really do make a difference and sometimes it is not always in the big things, but in the little things that you do that really impact people's lives.
Bobby: Your mom, that is all I have to say. Seriously though, you are another one who is a great friend. Your willingness to just give up what you have to help someone else truly inspires me. I am not sure I have ever met an American like you who would actually just go and live with homeless people to understand their perspective. That is a true missionary.
Nathan: I don't know if you ever even read this, but if you do, your name has appeared.
I am sure this is not the first time you have heard this, but you have this amazing ability to make people laugh. I wish we could hang out more, but Guatemala was great and the inside jokes... well those will just stay inside.
Megan: My friends we have been through a lot together. High school sucked sometimes, but you were always there. You have always been supportive even when I decide to go off to random countries. You were there when it seemed as though no one else was. All of your little habits make me laugh and always will. Even in the unsure things you always stand your ground. When I make mistakes you help me but never criticize.
Ryan: my my I can't believe that you are graduating. Although we always tease each other you have turned out to be a pretty cool guy, but you still give horrible directions.
Lindsey: I am glad that you are interested in cosmetology because I am not and then you can help me. I really do value your opinion on things.
Gwen: What would life be without you? Even though you do have some weird habits and you don't look like the rest of us.
My siblings: Guatemala made me realize how much I missed all of you guys and how much I really appreciate our differences. I guess it's hard to grow up together and somehow become your own person, but I think we all turned out pretty good.
I wish I could go on, but my battery is dying on my laptop so for everyone else out there who read this while I was gone and even now that I am back, thanks for your friendship and even though it's hard to see sometimes you really do have an affect on people.

Inspiration

I feel inspired to update. Although I am sure there aren't that many people out there reading this, I figured it would be good to update.
Life lately has been... well I don't think I can sum it up in one word. Complete craziness. For all of you out there who are still young and don't have to make decisions that will affect the rest of your life, enjoy your youthfulness. Growing up isn't all it's cracked up to be. Although you can do some cool things there are so many decisions that must be made along with that. I love it when I finally think that I have things a little bit together and then all of the sudden something else gets thrown in. Oh so fun.
So I have been watching so much 24 lately. Actually a ridiculous amount. Every night I am up in my bed on my laptop watching an episode or two. It is a great show. If you are not into it, I highly recommend it. But be careful as it comes with an addiction. Whenever someone is watching it my little brother says that we are smoking because we are so addicted.
So here is the update. It's not a book about the last two months of my life, but it's something. Perhaps if I feel compelled I will update again soon.
To all of you down in Guatemala... miss you guys. Stay strong. Enjoy life.
Peace out.

The Beginnings of Winter

So for all of you out there who are up to date, yesterday marked the first official day of winter; however don't let this little warm up fool you because it is bound to get cold again. I am sure that many of you have heard the controversy of whether or not it should be "Holiday Sale" or "Christmas Sale". I heard a good point about this and that is that all of the "Christmas Sales" end the day after Christmas so obviously retailers are not too concered with the other hoildays that surround Christmas. Anyways my point on all of that is simply to say Happy Winter Solstice to you. Yes that's right. I think this is my new favorite holiday considering that I am always out of town or the country for the 4th of July, which was my other favorite.
I was listening to the radio the other day on my way into work. NPR to be more accurate and they were talking about the original Vikings and what they used to eat and some of the things that are still eaten today by Icelanders. From what I heard it sounds like pretty nasty stuff. Nothing that would be on my table to celebrate the Winter Solstice. But then again I guess when you spend days on end with literally no daylight, what else can you do? I guess they slept a lot. I don't envy them for the amount of sleep they would get considering that they were one living in Iceland and two they were always out exlporing and stuff.
So this week has been a little crazy. I am back at Starbucks so you all should come and see me, but I cannot get you free coffee, just want to warn you right now. However deals can be made...
So I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas. I am sure there will be no update for awhile so enjoy this one. Hope that Mr. Santaman brings you what you want.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Reflections

Okay everyone out there in xanga world. Not to worry. I have not fallen off the face of the earth, just taken a little break from all of this xangaing for a little while. Life has been going pretty well. This week I had an interview with the new manager at Starbucks and it looks like I will be starting next week. I am actually happy to work there again. I have to say that I really enjoyed working there last year.
I am still working on my awesome project of putting together a little presentation. It has been coming along slowly, but hopefully this weekend I can put some more time into it.
This weekend is my family's annual christmas party in Cleveland. It will be cool to see my relatives, but the part I enjoy more is the car ride up. I remember when I was a kid and all of my siblings would fight for "the way back" which was in the back of the van, and the best place to be because you could make a bed out of sleeping bags and listen to what seemed like endless hours of Adventures in Odessey. Good times. We don't do that anymore, not to worry.
The more time I have spent at home the more I realize that I learned so many lessons in Guatemala and it has made me so thankful for the things in my life.
So I hope you all are having a wonderful time and enjoying the holiday season. I have been really obsessed with the color green lately and I figured it was time for some new colors.

Welcome to The United States of America

There is so much that could be said about coming home, but alas I will keep it short. I decided that I will keep the xanga for all of my guatemalan friends and of course anyone else that reads this.
So I arrived home on friday evening. My brother made possibly the best meal that I have had in a long time. My sister made cheescake for dessert, that was amazing too. Friday night I hung out with my family and after only a few hours of sleep the night before I somehow managed to stay up pretty late.
Other than that I have been enjoying the greatness of being home. Things are a little bit strange. It's weird doing all of the things that were once normal to me. They are still normal, it's just that I haven't done them in nine months. I am throughly enjoying being home and realized that I appreciate the simplest things in life. It's a great feeling. For everyone in Guatemala, I miss you and I hope you are doing well. Siempre estamos en contacto. For everyone here, I look forward to seeing you someday. We will be in touch.
